If I'd Been There

I wrote this song a couple of years ago in an effort to touch people's lives. I hope as this song is sung, that the message of the words will have a lasting effect on both the performer as well as those that will listen to it.

If I'd been there, in Bethlehem,
in the day of our dear Savior's birth;
Would I believe what prophet's foretold,
that the Savior had come to the earth?

If I'd been there, in Galilea,
when He said, "Come Follow Me",
would I have left my nets and come,
answering His call for me?

If I'd been there, to listen to His teachings;
Would I willingly accept all that I heard?
Would I know how much the Savior loves me?
Would I faithfully and humbly do His word?

If I'd been there, in Jeruselem,
seen him healing the sick and the lame.
Would I have had the faith they did?
Would I believe on His name?

If I'd been there, at Calvary,
as my savior was suff'ring for me,
would witnessing His agony,
make His life more meaningful to me?

Though I'm not there, to listen to His teachings;
